The Rock

Intro: I wrote the original of this poem for the mini-concert at the home school camp in December 2009. Over the 4 days after the camp I extended the poem futher to what it is now. It's about some of the main things that happend on the camp. So Enjoy!

The Rock
("Harry's Rock")
By Ethan

The Rock in all its beauty is not at all folly,
just volley the ball and be jolly!

Flick that frisbee, a jewel in the cool,
also pull up a stool, for we play cards, old school.

While the gas lamps burn, for music we yearn,
so we may learn to spin and turn.

The fire glows in its flows and,
as the day draws to a close, it warms the toes.

Friends lend and trees bend,
while March flies descend to the very end.

Don't be a lime, the house is a dime,
so spend the time to take the climb!

But just remember, that sign: “If it's yellow let it mellow,
if it's brown flush it down!”

From the porch the teenage crew savour the view,
like a painting made true, in the afternoon's golden hue.

Navigate the path to Diana's Bath,
where you can make a jump, or sit on your rump in a clump.

Mock not the slippery rock,
for it may give you a knock and a nasty shock!

Friends laugh under the tarp,
so come on, be sharp and leave your mark!

Everyone enjoyed this amazing place,
with its inviting space and relaxing pace.
