The Gift

Intro: It's become a tradition I guess, for me to do an animation for the home school concerts each year. So, for 2009's concert I wrote and animated this poem.

The Gift
By Ethan

Royal blue of queens and kings,
Black antennas and symmetrical wings.

I caught it carefully in a net,
And that's when we first met.

Why my friend, do you weep,
When this beautiful gift is yours to keep?

I have been though so much ado,
To get this spectacular creature to you.

First, I put it on a leash,
Cared for it and fed it quiche.

I trained it to do a loop-the-loop,
Through a yellow hula hoop.

Then you see, the poor creature hit a door,
And swiftly slid to the floor.

I only had one choice to get it stabilized,
And that was to have it hospitalized.

And now it's yours with which to play,
Oh no! It's fluttered away!

Love is not measured by the weight of the gift but by the weight of love giving and receiving the gift!
